The snow up in the mountains succumbs to the warmth of the sun's rays, while fresh blades of grass peep up out of the soil still cold from the winter. Yes, spring is slowly but surely colouring the countryside with bright hues that signify nature's awakening.

We'll show you the holiday regions in sync with spring!

Bolzano and Environs: a valley dedicated to spring

Spring starts to paint this valley white as early as March in the form of thousands upon thousands of little white flowers poking up out of the ground to herald its arrival: spring snowflakes. 'Frühlingstal' valley runs through Montiggl wood from Appiano to Kalterer See lake and is the first place in South Tyrol to delight people with the sweet scent of flowers and spring air! Spring comes early to Bolzano and Environs further up the mountain, too: in April a veil of violet crocuses lies over the meadows of the Möltner Joch in the Alps of Sarntal Valley!

Merano and Environs – a floral paradise

Further north, between the mountains around Merano, springtime in the spa town and thereabouts succeeds in convincing guests once more: thanks to the Mediterranean climate there, dandelions may be seen growing on the meadows in April and the decorative bushes on the Passer river promenade are pruned into theatrical figures planted in colourful flowerbeds. In the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle and on the Tappeinerweg path, a variety of plant life blooms to create a display of the most joyous colours that nature has to offer.

Where spring comes to South Tyrol – Venosta Valley

It is rumoured that Venosta Valley is the first valley that spring passes through on its way to South Tyrol. This means that spring in Venosta Valley is definitely worth seeing! In April and May, the whole valley is clad in pink and white apple blossom, which glimmer encased in coats of ice in the morning after the cold of the night, while winter fans can enjoy skiing down the slopes of the Venosta Valley mountains in the warm spring sunshine.

Isarco Valley with its spring walks

Spring may be spent in invigorating fashion while out and about in this valley well supplied with walking paths going up mountains, down again, enjoying the snow at higher altitudes and inhaling the scent of apple blossom in the valley, especially on the apple-growing high plateau of Natz-Schabs. Spring in Isarco Valley involves the blossoming of culture, too: excursions to the artists' town of Klausen-Chiusa, the episcopal town of Brixen-Bressanone or the merchants' town of Sterzing-Vipiteno will particularly appeal to pleasure seekers and culture lovers at the start of the warm season!

The Dolomites in their spring cloak of snow

Spring really stands out in a place where the mountains are white and pale! While the warming rays of the sun plunge the fields and meadows of Pusteria Valley into lush green and colourful blossom, spring up in the Dolomites may only be glimpsed when looking down at the valley. Dolomiti Superski carousel keeps on going until April. For hiking and experiencing the contrast in seasons!
